The biggest misconception with Physical Therapy is you have to sustain an injury or undergo a surgery in order to go to Physical Therapy. This is simply not true.


This mentality forces us to address injuries, aches, and pains in a reactive manner. Where you are seemingly waiting to have an injury before addressing your pain, leading to an uphill battle with your symptoms to get back to sports or the gym.


But sometimes the easiest way to treat an injury, is to simply never get injured in the first place.


And this is exactly what Recovery Care is designed to do at Flow Physical Therapy and Wellness in The Woodlands, Texas.


Who benefits from Recovery Care?


So many of our patients compete in various sports at various meets, competitions, games, and practices throughout the week and weekend - leaving them with sore muscles and a sense of feeling sluggish from an accumulation of lactic acid.


This increase in muscle soreness can lead to muscle tightness and discomfort and eventually to muscle strains and overuse injuries. These injuries interfere with being able to participate in practices, games, or workouts.


But our athletes take advantage of Recovery Care to improve their sport performance and avoid injuries. Recovery Care sessions are pivotal in improving muscle function, decreasing muscle soreness, and shortening the DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) cycle.


What should I expect at my Recover Care session?


Recovery sessions have an increased focus on treatments that will improve your performance by increasing blood flow, decreasing muscle spasm, improving mobility, and decreasing muscle adhesions. These treatments include:


  • Dry Needling

  • IASTM (Scraping/Blading)

  • Cupping Therapy

  • Massage

  • Stretching

  • Kinesiology Taping


So whether your sport of choice is powerlifting, CrossFit, tennis, baseball, basketball, pickleball, soccer, swimming, football, softball, or all the above as a weekend warrior, you need to take care of yourself between practices and competitions so you can perform at your best and have a blast while doing it.
